Join our dynamic team and contribute to shaping the future of [specific industry] technology.Job Description: We are seeking a talented and experienced Interim Lead Android Engineer to join our Mobile Engineering team. In this role, you will lead a team of passionate developers across multiple locations, driving the delivery of cutting-edge features for our Android application. Your technical expertise, leadership skills, and vision will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our mobile platform and contributing to key business initiatives.Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate a team of Android developers, including full-time employees and contractors, across multiple locations.Collaborate with other Leads to coordinate feature delivery within your domain and across domains.Estimate work for upcoming sprints and ensure timely delivery of features.Participate in defining, designing, and shipping features, championing efficient, reusable, and performant code.Ensure high performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application through rigorous testing and peer code reviews.Investigate issues throughout the development lifecycle and provide relevant production support when required.Encourage technical discussions, facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, and mentor team members to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Document application changes and updates, and abide by team ways of working and company guidelines. Experience and Skills: Previous experience as a Lead of a development team.Fluent in English, both written and spoken.6+ years of proven development experience on the Android platform.Excellent knowledge of Java & Kotlin, Android Studio, and the Android SDK.Proficiency in using Git and Gitflow, with experience in different branching strategies.Strong focus on refactoring and code quality, with experience writing unit tests as a standard part of the development lifecycle.Knowledge and experience of MVVM and MVP patterns, along with object-oriented design principles.Understanding of the build and release process for applications on Google Play.Experience working within a team across multiple locations and time-zones in an Agile environment. Desirable Criteria: Experience working with Firebase, React-Native concepts, and AWS architecture & technologies, particularly Amazon API Gateway.Experience with mobile app testing tools, enterprise mobile CI pipeline, and CI/CD tooling and practices.Hands-on experience with customer-facing apps emphasizing usability and knowledge of mobile security concerns and approaches.
