Job Title: English Language TeacherLocation: ISE Ireland, Dublin Camden & Harcourt StreetReporting to: DoS (Director of Studies)Introduction:The International School of English is a professional English language school located in the heart of the city centre, a 10-minute walk from St. Stephen’s Green in a restored Georgian building. We offer quality English language courses in a positive learning environment with our friendly and professional teaching team, and supportive and helpful administration staff.Position Summary:The English Language Teacher is part of the Academic Team and is responsible for delivering a superior student learning experience through the delivery of classroom instruction, tutorials and student assessment as defined in the contract and staff & teacher handbook. As part of the Academic Team, the teacher, in collaboration with the Academic team members, sets individual learning and development goals and actively seeks opportunities to further develop teaching practice.Key Responsibilities:● Deliver lessons that are motivating and engaging with a focus on autonomous learning and progress.● Establish a positive learning environment for Learners, ensuring that they feel supported and able to take risks with language● Provide feedback and support that encourages Learners to develop both their language skills and their learning autonomy● Complete all administrative duties in a timely manner● Work with the ISE and teaching team in a professional manner● Take an active interest in self-development and achieve set development goalsDuties include but are not limited to:● Plan and deliver lessons assigned by the Academic Management in accordance with ISE Teacher Standards● Complete class administration in a timely manner, including: Weekly Plans/Lesson Plans, student attendance records, student assessment reports ● Set and mark homework● Provide students with focused tutorials and/or manage efficiently the Wall of Messages● Attend Staff meetings and training sessions as directed by the ISE Academic Management● Seek feedback from students, colleagues and manager● Conduct and mark exams according to the assessment criteria● Set development goals in conjunction with the DoS based on observations, feedback and individual areas of interest● Follow the directives in the employee handbook and teacher manual● Provide occasional substitute coverage● Participate in internal/external CPD events● Keep current with school policies and company aims● Check work emails, notices and announcementsEducation Required:● B.A. Degree (preferably in the field)● CELTA / certTESOL (or equivalent)Experience Preferred:● Proven ability to plan and deliver high quality language lessons.● Experience teaching TEFL courses: 1-3 years.● Ability to work with new technologies for teaching and administrationJob Specific Competencies:Classroom Management Skills● Maintain clear rules that are applied objectively to all students● Identify learners’ needs and guide them appropriately● Use pairs and groups to maintain energy levels and facilitate learning● Ensure all students are participating in the lesson● Respond appropriately to student questions and commentsPlanning and Preparation Skills● Create lessons that are relevant and motivating● Set clearly defined learning goals that aim for continuous development● Demonstrate an understanding of the difference between learning and teaching and plans accordingly● Plan lessons to meet the needs of both individuals and the classProfessional Conduct● Colleagues & Management: Maintain professional supporting working relationships with colleagues● Maintain open communication with all staff, particularly the A/DoS● Be familiar with the ISE school policy and company aims● Understand the other departments' roles and advise students whom to speak to if they have a query● Attend and contribute positively to meetings● Students: Behave appropriately with students both in and outside of the classroomIf you are interested in the role, please forward your CV & Cover letter to XXXX@iseireland.ie.
