Test Lead & Defect Manager – Data Protection & Recovery (Tech Risk) Job Description This role is part of the Clients Data Protection & Recovery (DPR) Programme team, supporting the delivery of Programme Testing. You will report to the Senior Test Manager and work closely with other DPR Programme Testing SMEs and Central Test teams, and third parties, to ensure Test Readiness and Test tracking before transitioning to a role as the Programme’s Defect Manager where you will ensure Defects are documented, tracked, managed, resolved and reported. Key Responsibilities & Requirements for Test Leading: • Co-ordinating the Test Preparation and execution for complex and strategical important programme implementations. • Involved in assuring supplier deliverables for test traceability and coverage aligned to Banks’ Test Framework and Test Methodology. • Supporting suppliers in the documentation of Test deliverables and undertaking of test activities aligned to the Bank’s Test Framework. • Ensure Test Readiness Reviews achieve a “Go” outcome and document any remedial activities to ensure smooth entry and exit for phases of Functional, Acceptance (User & Operational), Non-Functional Testing, Proving and Penetration Testing. • Identify and document RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies). • Understand and apply the Programme’s ALM Tool (JIRA) within the context of a hardware and software application environment. Key Responsibilities & Requirements for Defect Management: • Establish the Programme’s Defect Management Process including Tooling (JIRA). • Ensure the Defect Management Process aligns to that of the Central Test Framework. • Create Dashboards to support Defect Reporting covering good practices including Root Cause Analysis and summary of Defects by Solution Under Test, Status, Severity & Priority. • Establish and chair Defect Management Triage and Defect Status meetings. • Ensure Defects are reported consistently (to standards) and in a timely fashion. • Develop concepts of “Gold, Silver, Bronze” or equivalent lists focusing teams on resolution priority. • Ensure Defects are tracked and managed through to resolution with fixes applied in a control and agreed way for re-testing. • Ensure suppliers have what they need from the Programme’s Defect Management process to support their own internal Defect Management Processes & Tooling. • Work with a wide range of client stakeholders and suppliers to ensure status is appropriately communicated and Defects resolved in a timely fashion.   Skills Must Have • 15+ Years Testing experience with 5+ in a Test Manager/Lead and Defect Management role (preferably in an Infrastructure Delivery Programme) • Managing/Leading testing & Defect Management in a Financial Services regulatory environment, in particular experience of testing in Back-up and Recovery Testing. • Driving and Assuring the production of Test Plan documentation including working within a Test Framework aligning to Central Test function, policies, procedures and tooling. • Establishing the Programme’s Defect Management Process aligned to the Central Test function. • Working with 3rd party vendors to plan, co-ordinate and execute testing. • JIRA for test coverage and defect management. • Excellent interpersonal skills with a keen ability to work with all parties with a view of getting the job done in a co-operative fashion. • Excellent reporting and presentation skills. • Ability to identify blocking issues, manage and escalate to right level where required. • Proactive, self-motivated with a positive “can-do” attitude, creative with excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills including strong persuasive techniques. • Strong problem-solving. • Ability to lead, develop and maintain respectful and trusting relationship. Should Have • Test Management/Leading for a multi-year complex programme and track record of sticking to deadlines. • Ability to report and track Test related RAID. Could Have • Dell and IBM back-up & recovery technologies a distinct advantage. • Mainframe Safeguarded Copy and/or Syncpoint technologies a distinct advantage. • Testing of Backup and Recovery Runbooks a distinct advantage. • ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager Certification and / or Project Management Certification or equivalent is an advantage • Degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Information Technology / Business or related qualification.
