Job Title: Communications CoordinatorReporting to: Communications ManagerContract Type: PermanentHours of work: Full Time (35 Hours/week) – 9am to 5pm. Flexibility required to attend the odd event/shoot outside of office hours. Advance notice given.Location: The Society operates a hybrid working model with a combination of remote and in-person (Dublin office) working. Office attendance days are Wednesday & Thursday weeklySalary: €38,000 per annumWho we areAt the Irish Cancer Society, we have a vision that by 2025, 3 out of 4 Irish cancer patients will survive their cancer diagnosis and everyone affected by the disease will have access to world-class treatment, care and support.We’re looking for a Communications Coordinator to join our team. As Communications Coordinator, you will play a key role in helping us to reach even more people with our message on traditional and digital media; ensuring our vital services and supporter base grows.What you’ll doThe successful candidate will work on a portfolio of Irish Cancer Society communications activities, developing exciting and innovative communications campaigns and will support the Communications Manager in the execution of these campaigns. You will be a core member of the Communications Department and will play a key role in planning and delivering communications, through traditional and digital channels, that meet the overall strategic objectives of the Society.Key duties and responsibilities:Communications• Support the communications team with research, planning, development, timely execution, and evaluation of communications campaigns and activities across the Irish Cancer Society (across earned, and owned media).• Copywriting and content creation for Irish Cancer Society channels and website.• Provide operational communications support to key campaigns in areas such as fundraising, services, research, and advocacy.• Preparing and managing budgets for communications activities, in consultation with the budget holder.Marketing and stakeholder engagement• Managing media relations, including media requests.• Engaging with media volunteers, writing their stories and acting as their point of contact.• Ensuring brand consistency across all forms of communications.Working closely with other teams across the organisation on specified projects to meet theSociety’s objectives.• Undertaking other duties as required.Who you are:• Self-starter with initiative, creativity, and ability to develop innovative and effective communications strategies for the leading health charity.• Excellent writing skills.• Good awareness of the media landscape - adept at working across all channels including traditional and digital media.• Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and constantly meeting deadlines.Your qualifications and experience:• Typically at least two years’ experience in communications, PR or journalism. The Society measures experience based on the quality of the experience obtained, rather than in time passed and welcomes applicants at all stages of their career. • Experience in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects is desirable.• A third level qualification or post-graduate qualification in communications is desirable but not essential.• Experience of working on communications strategies with tight deadlines.• Experience of the Irish healthcare arena is desirable, including healthcare policy.The closing date for applications is close of business Tuesday 2nd July 2024Please note all CVs are logged through a 3rd party system for processing.The Irish Cancer Society is an equal opportunity employer.
