Internship Details  Title: Supervised by:  Duration:  Digital andCommunications Intern  Senior Digital Marketing Officer Six months  Brief overview of role  Sitting within the Fundraising and Communications Department you will learn about the daily workings of a busy fundraising and communications team.  From creating social media posts to writing website copy, to proof reading and data entry, you will provide assistance to the team across various areas including Marketing, Communications, Fundraising and Digital Media.  This role would suit someone who is creative with an outstanding attention to detail and an eagerness to learn the internal workings of a leading International Development Organisation that uses a human rights-based approach to address the root causes of poverty around the world.  About Plan International Ireland  Plan International is a rights-based development and humanitarian organisation working for better lives for all children. At Plan International Ireland, we are proud to centre our strategy around girls' rights and equality in our work, especially girls' access to education in some of the most disadvantaged areas on earth. The majority of our programmes will remain concentrated in the West African and Sahel region. We will work with girls and their communities to recover and build resilience in the wake of the pandemic. Through our work, 1.5 million people, especially girls, will be supported to Learn, Lead, Decide, Survive and Thrive in all areas of their lives because we know that girls' education leads to girls' equality resulting in better lives for everyone in the community.  Key roles and responsibilities  You will learn about the delivery of communications and digital fundraising campaigns. You will support the team at one of the most important times of the year for Plan International Ireland you will be helping the teamwith International Day of the Girls, our biggest PR opportunity of the year, International Day of Play and withsocial media, you have also support in making sure that communications are legible and coherent, and that they adhere to the highest standards, such as the Dóchas Code of Ethical Communications You will support in creating content for digital media, social media and traditional media. Learning how to build and execute a successful communications and public relations campaigns. You will learn how to source and design content for our website, on social media and for the media, assisting Plan International Ireland in achieving its communication objectives.  This unique opportunity to work with our 52 national offices throughout the world will serve as a platform for a fruitful career within the INGO sector! Person specification  Candidates should have a genuine interest in the development or humanitarian sector as well as strong interest in communications and media relations. Competencies looked for in a candidate:  Strong analytical skills: you will have the ability to work proficiently in the Microsoft Office suite, withprevious experience in adobe creative suite orCanva, content creation and social media posting and monitoring.Experience posting content in WordPress is an advantage.  Strong communications and networking skills: the role requires co-ordination with a diverse number of stakeholders, both internal and external. You will need to have strong written and verbal communication skills.  Location  The Plan International Ireland office is located on Harrington Street, Dublin 8 (across from Brother Hubbard’s). We are just a stone’s throw away from the bustling and busy Camden Street area, with its many coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and much more! Our nearest LUAS stop is Harcourt Street.
